Hello, and welcome to Tacoma Writes (no affiliation to the Instagram account, though I encourage you to give them a follow). My name is Tony Brown and it's a pleasure to meet you. My birthday is coming up, and I'd like to have a writing contest. There will be some cash prizes, $300 for best story, $100 for second and two $50 runner ups. There will be no entry fee, just email me your story and I'll read it. Here are the rules:
Write a short story about the origin of Bigfoot (it can be spooky, serious, weird or whatever you want, just nothing explicit)
It must take place in the Pacific Northwest
This contest is open to all nations
The story should be between 500 and 5000 words and should be written in English
The story should be original and not AI generated - Please Include a title and approx. word count
You will retain the full copyright of your story but by entering you grant me the option to post your story here
Deadline to submit is February 21st, 2026
Winner will be announced March 21st, 2026 (It's only me reading them, so it might take a bit!)
The prizes will be cash paid either in hand, or via app
Why am I doing this? I tried to write a story about the origin of Bigfoot but I'm not a very good writer, but I still want to READ a story about the origin of Bigfoot. And I think we spend too much time on our phones. Plus, it's kind of fun. And it's my birthday.
AI usage statement: It's a tool, if you must, use it as a tool for formatting, proof reading, etc. However, the point of this is to flex your human mind, get it tired and dirty with words, stress it to a breaking point and the revel in what you've done. Be proud. Be enlightened and be amazed.
Write me a story. Enjoy the process. Share it with friends and family. Encourage them to enter. I look forward to reading your stories.
